The domain extension .bg is the country-specific top-level domain from Bulgaria. This domain extension has been issued since 3 January 1995.

For when intended or suitable?

Until September 2008, interested parties had to justify in detail why they wanted a bg. Domain. This means that the allocation of the domain ending .bg was limited to companies and private persons who had a company headquarters or a residence in Bulgaria. In the meantime, foreigners without a permanent residence permit in Bulgaria and also companies and citizens of the EU can apply for a website domain ending in .bg. Those who do not have a permanent seat or location in the EU are, however, required to appoint an administrative contact with a seat in the EU. The chosen domain name must be identical with the name of the company. The registration of a website with .bg domain ending must be in English and Bulgarian. For the registration it is necessary to provide an identity card or VAT number, as well as to fill out an application form. The registration of a website with this domain extension is possible for companies from the EU. The registration must include the trade register number and a copy of the trade register excerpt, which can also be in German. The registration must also bear the company stamp of the company.
