DSGVO-compliant cloud - Telekom hosts Nextcloud in Germany

Deutsche Telekom and Nextcloud have developed a new Press release presented a cooperation for the DSGVO-compliant provision of the Nextcloud Hub collaboration software. In the future, the open source platform will thus be offered as a platform in the Open Telekom Cloud for business customers. The target group is teams and companies that want a data protection-friendly alternative to the offerings of MicrosoftGoogle and Co.

According to the companies involved, the project will meet the requirements of the European Gaia-X Initiative in the construction of the infrastructure.

Telekom and Nextcloud "Data on the collaboration platform never leaves the strict German jurisdiction and users don't have to worry about data compliance issues."

Nextcloud Hub consists of a simple client and server application that enables data exchange in a professional environment. Included are functions for document editing and real-time video chat, among others.

Covid 19 pandemic accelerates growth

The press release also cites the Covid 19 pandemic as a reason for the collaboration, which is greatly accelerating the growth of collaboration tools like Nextcloud Hub.

In addition, Nextcloud emphasizes the open source basis of its software, which, unlike competing products, guarantees that customers have a great deal of control and flexibility over their Data retention and that the software can be integrated more easily into existing solutions.

In addition to Deutsche Telekom, Nextcloud has already started a cooperation with 1&1 at the beginning of 2020, which is also aimed at customers from the enterprise segment.

Tip: Next Cloud is also used in the webhoster.com AG in Frankfurt am Main and is included in all web hosting plans starting at 4.99 Euro per month.
