The more traffic and thus visitors you get to your website the more fans, subscribers, newsletter subscribers and thus also sales you will achieve.
However, this is not a new issue. Every website owner knows that traffic is the be-all and end-all - otherwise your website is a desert island and on a desert island you can neither sell nor make friends.
Traffic for your own website can either be completely free - but then it costs time and effort - or paid. You can with the help of Google Adsense, Facebook Ads or even Twitter ads in the shortest time get a lot of traffic to your website - then is solely a matter of money.
Even if you are planning to pay for website traffic, it's still not a bad idea to optimize and set up the website so that you get traffic from search engines and social media channels. More always works!
We want to look at the question of how you can get more traffic for free.
keyword research
With the help of a keyword research, a complex of topics can be built up on your own website, which addresses the right visitors for you. After all, you don't want just any visitors but those who are interested in your products and then buy them.
It is also important that your website does not cover every topic. This only dilutes the page and you then rank reasonably for nothing. For this reason a keyword research is essential.
Use the free Google Keyword Planner tool for this. If you have a Google account, you can display keywords for any topic. You can also limit these search terms to a country or a specific language.
The following applies here: Only use so-called long-tail keywords. These are much more targeted. If you optimize a text for example for dog food, the reasons why someone is looking for it are manifold. For example, someone might come to you via this term because they want to find out about the right food for their dog. Maybe he also wants to produce dog food himself - or, in the best case - buy it.
So if you select your search terms in a targeted manner, you will receive qualified traffic and thus visitors who want to buy the dog food.
Create a list with numerous search terms around your topic. This way you have ideas for different topics. Always ask yourself which potential visitor would enter this search term and whether this would also lead to the visitor becoming a customer.
Company website on Google Business
Enter your website as a company website in Google Business. Google offers here the possibility to create a company profile free of charge. On the profile you can place photos as well as a link to your website and have it verified. This is completely free of charge. Google will send you a letter with a code that you can deposit there. This measure also sends positive signals to the search engine. After all, it ensures that your company exists and that it is not a dummy company.
Great content
It does not matter which traffic strategy you use. None can replace really good content. Content that nobody wants to read, because it is too superficial, there is enough on the Internet. Only very few website operators take the time to research articles really thoroughly and thus inform their visitors well. Most of the time, texts are written together that offer no added value to the visitors and scare them away as soon as they have made the first click on the website. This is neither in the interest of Google nor your users. Google wants to rank web pages and thus individual texts for individual search terms really well, because it is precisely these that answer the answer that the user has given to the search engine. There is enough non-relevant content on the Internet. Therefore you stand out through really good content.
Participation in social networks
On Facebook, YouTube, Google+ and all other social networks you are guaranteed to find content on your topic. The groups on Facebook are a good place to start. There you can actively participate, get into conversation with other users and, if appropriate, give them a link to further information on your website. To prevent the whole thing from getting out of hand and to avoid spending an incredible amount of time in social media, you should limit your activities to one or two groups. Being present, answering or even asking questions - that way you will be known in the groups and then people will ask about you.
You should also link your Facebook profile (not your fan page!) with your website.
So users coming from Facebook can easily find their way to you.
Build relationships with other bloggers
Relationships only hurt those who don't have any, right? That's why you should try to get in touch with other bloggers who have already made a name for themselves in your niche. Build up a relationship without being too hasty. For example, you can write an article about the entrepreneur and send him a link to your article via social media. That way, a first contact is established in any case.
If you immediately tell the blogger that you would like to have a backlink from him now and he should please take a look at your website, you will probably quickly end up in the virtual trash bin with your message.
After all, nobody wants to be treated like that.
The development of traffic is long-term. If you don't want to rely solely on paid advertising, you should focus on good content. Because good content will be well received by search engines and visitors today and in 20 years time. For this reason the creation of content is never an expense but always an investment. A website with content that does not lose its validity directly will still earn for you in many years to come.
The investment in traffic via Google Adwords and Co. is more of an expense. Not every visitor that Google will send and you pay dearly will become a customer. Therefore the chances are good that a visitor who likes your content and has been helped will subscribe to your newsletter and thus sooner or later become a customer, without you having invested any money.
No matter which traffic strategy you decide on, content marketing should always be the top priority and should be planned without restrictions. The more targeted content you offer on your website, the more people you will reach through the search engines.
Of course, there is nothing to be said against placing paid advertising in addition to content marketing. But as already indicated: Even the visitors you pay for do not necessarily become customers if you do not provide content on your website that is of interest to your potential customers.
So it always boils down to the fact that a good website also lives from good content. Because what is a website without content? The best pictures and graphics are of little use if you do not provide relevant information.
