The domain extension .ba stands for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is also often referred to as Bosnia and Herzegovina. This state in the Balkans, formerly part of the Republic of Yugoslavia, was founded in 1992. The economy of the country is mainly characterized by agriculture and the mining of wood and minerals. About 60 percent of the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina is forested. Due to the Yugoslavian war at the beginning of the 1990s, tourism in the country has developed only slowly. This domain extension has been in existence since August 14, 1996, and ordering a domain name for websites ending in .ba is subject to the submission of a large number of original documents. The registry also requires the respective company to provide its VAT and commercial register number. The registration of the .ba domain is often done through a trustee service. A company may not have more than 20 websites with this domain extension. For private persons a registration of a website with this domain ending is not possible. If a company can't prove that it has its registered office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a local administrative contact can be provided. This domain extension is administered by the University Telinformatic Centre.
Registration at second and third level
With this domain ending, registrations on the second level as well as on the third level are accepted. Available are .ba domains for the government, for educational institutions, for internet service providers and for non-profit organizations. From other areas of the economy there are of course also companies that have registered a website with this domain extension. However, their number is rather low.
Meaning
Due to the restrictive allocation criteria of .ba domains, this country-specific top-level domain is one of the smallest ccTLDs. At the beginning of 2006 there were only about 3000 websites with the domain extension .ba.
Only companies are allowed to order .ba domains, but additional documents in original are required, which we will send you after your domain order. Furthermore the .ba registry requires the indication of the sales tax number and the commercial register number. The registration of a .ba domain is done by the free trustee service of the web hosting provider.
