Telehouse America NYIIX Internet Exchange exceeds 1 Tbit / s peak traffic
Telehouse America, the world's leading provider of data centers, international Internet exchanges and managed IT services, announced that the New York NYIIX International Peering Exchange has reached a huge milestone by exceeding 1 tera bits per second (Tbit / s) in peak traffic. The peak occurred on November 23, 2020. This milestone solidifies NYIIX as one of the largest and most successful peering exchanges in the U.S. and the largest peering exchange on the East Coast.
While peering exchanges result in countless ISPs, businesses, and nonprofit organizations achieving high-speed, low-cost data transmission around the world, not all are equal. Their success and effectiveness are determined by their connections to a large number of peering members and the activity and traffic of those members. Telehouse NYIIX exceeding the important milestone of 1 Tbit / s in peak traffic demonstrates why it is one of the leading IXP companies in the US.
Telehouse NYIIX provides carriers, ISPs, content providers, gaming providers, educational institutions, cloud providers and enterprises with a single platform to reduce operational costs and improve network performance and resiliency. With this milestone, NYIIX demonstrates its reach, growth, usage and effectiveness for countless businesses and organizations. All have critical data transmission needs in the U.S. and around the world. This has never been more important than in this time of a global pandemic, where data sharing and transmission are increasing and becoming more critical in an evolving Internet landscape.
With the recent additions and upgrades to one of NYIIX's key hubs at Telehouse's 85 10th Ave locations, NYIIX can provide any of its current or future customers with the ability to enable or scale multiple 100G ports for high traffic applications across a vast network of peering routes.
However, Telehouse NYIIX's peering service is not limited to its POP locations. NYIIX peering service can be offered through numerous NYIIX resellers from various geographic regions such as North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Carrier, Internet service provider, content provider, gaming provider and enterprise
Telehouse founded the NYIIX International Peering Exchange in 1996 to serve the East Coast business centers of New York and New Jersey. Since then, they have built one of the largest and most active memberships of any international peering exchange in the United States. Akehouse Sugeno, Vice President Internet Engineering at Telehouse America and NYIIX, spoke about the significance of this milestone and how it supports the diverse needs of businesses and organizations in the U.S. that operate locally and globally.
"Our mission at Telehouse NYIIX has always been to provide unparalleled connectivity, data transfer, speed and cost reduction to all businesses and organizations connecting in the U.S. or around the world," said Akio. "Reaching this milestone of 1 Tbit / s in peak traffic is proof that we are meeting that need and fulfilling our mission to be the leader in IXP in the U.S."
Telehouse owns and operates more than 40 data centers around the world and hosts some of the largest international peering exchanges in the world. NYIIX POPs are located in New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. These are all open IXPs, so colocation with Telehouse is not a requirement to join.
