INAP launches next phase of its Los Angeles data center expansion
INAP's expansion doubles the facility's previous power capacity and adds 12,000 square feet of retail space to meet existing and new customer demands
Internap Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a leading provider of high-performance data center and cloud solutions with global network connectivity, today announced an expansion of its Los Angeles flagship data center in Redondo Beach. DediPath will be the anchor tenant after signing a multi-year colocation services agreement for one megawatt of power. DediPath will come to power when INAP completes its data center expansion.
Supporting DediPath in the high-demand L.A. In the market, INAP offered a solution that could power deployments with high density and Bandwidth with extremely low latency via INAP's patented Performance IP(R). The Contract from DediPath also includes access to INAP's Spending Portability Program, which allows the customer to meet the megawatt commitment in additional INAP data centers.
What are the next steps
The data center expansion will occur in phases, beginning with the addition of 12,000 square feet of retail space. Subsequent phases will add modular infrastructure deployments based on customer load. The expanded facility will use a high-efficiency mechanical design combined with an optimized UPS deployment, enabling INAP to achieve a PUE (1.3 Power Usage Effectiveness) - a rate above the industry average. Total critical power is increased from 1.4 MW to 3.2 MW to support new customer deployments and existing customer growth.
"Due to high demand and capacity constraints in the LA market, we have seen accelerated growth in our LA flagship since the end of 2017," said Andrew Day, chief operating officer of INAP. "We are pleased to welcome DediPath as the company." Anchor the tenant in this newly expanded area and support it as the sole LA provider. Both this deal and the expansion illustrate INAP's unique ability to deliver comprehensive, high-performance data center, cloud and networking solutions. "
DediPath originally partnered with INAP in 2018 for data center and network services at its flagship metro data center in New York-New Jersey, and has expanded its footprint with INAP almost monthly.
"DediPath is committed to providing only the best service and performance to its IaaS customers. That's why we rely on INAP to deliver highly available, low-latency solutions," said Mark Jiannino, chief executive officer of DediPath. "With the L.A. With INAP, we are able to support our growing Shop Support in a state-of-the-art facility. "
"INAP's commitment to world-class service and solution flexibility provides a path for continued growth nationwide," said Ernie Quick, DediPath's chief technology officer. "In addition, we recently deployed major core network upgrades, including 400 Gbps Layer 2 connectivity to 1 Wilshire and enterprise-level DDoS protection to support our customers' needs and growth."
