Push notifications help you to always be up to date and not to miss important information. Whether discount promotions, competitions or new content, push notifications are the ideal solution. In principle, it doesn't matter whether you set up push notifications on your smartphone, tablet or pc, because they are very useful on all end devices. But what exactly are they and how do they work?
What are push notifications?
Strictly speaking, these are messages that appear on your smartphone/tablet etc. without opening the respective app. This means that you will always be informed as soon as there is any news, regardless of whether you have opened the app or not, and you will always be up to date. Of course, you are free to choose which information should be sent to you as push messages and which information you do not need at all. For example, if you are a sports enthusiast, you can follow sports bets and are always up to date. Email/SMS or news from all over the world can also be set up easily via Bush message. In addition, you can not only receive the push messages yourself, but also set them up on your blog and thus send your followers all the news concerning your blog.
The guide
Below is a guide on how to set up push notifications on your blog.
All popular browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge) support push notifications and it does not matter which operating system is installed on the device. Should it still not work with the setup of the notifications, this is usually due to the browser. This should then be changed accordingly.
The very first thing you need is an account with Pushcrew.com. This is free for websites and blogs. You simply go to the website from Pushcrew.com and register to receive your personal access data afterwards. These will be sent to you by email.
Once the Pushcrew.com account is created, you can proceed to the next step. You can either work with a plugin or instead write a suitable code in the Theme of your website. The latter is described in this manual.
In the PushCrew.com dashboard, request the appropriate code under "Settings", then "Get Code". This code is mandatory and also the last step before you can send out messages.
Copy this code to the clipboard and then paste it into the Footer.php file of your WordPress Themes. Now you have push notifications on WordPress set up. Now you can send them to your blog visitors. So from now on they are also up to date.
Modification of the layout possible
There are of course many more ways to beautify your push messages and get creative. You can add your own logo to the PushCrew.com dashbord, change the captions of the main buttons or manage the texts. You can make it much more handsome and add your own personal touch to the notifications.
Finally, the development of push notifications is still under construction and is not yet fully developed here and there. But this will stabilize in the near future, so that many more users will use push notifications in WordPress for themselves and others.
